Being the wine lovers that we are, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that we are living only about a half a day’s drive away from the best wine area in Canada. And with fellow Team Online member Kevin Thurman (WizardOfAhhs) renting a ridiculously opulent house right in the heart of wine country (since I told the owner I’d mention it, it’s for sale for $4 million if anyone is interested), it was the perfect excuse to visit and do lots of drinking.
Google maps says the drive should take about 5 hours. We left at around 10am, and after taking a half hour to figure out how to install the car seat, another half hour going across the bridge after taking a wrong turn to drop off the dog at the doggie day care, a couple stops to get Cooper and us some food, we finally arrived at like 8pm. Ahh well, at least it was a beautiful drive.
While the house was awesome, it was hard containing Coop. All he wanted to do was go up and down the stairs, and there wasn’t really an effective way to block them off. Luckily after a day or 2 the wine fridge caught his attention. Babies can pay in fridges right?
His other favorite toy:
We decided to do a guided wine tour one of the days. The area is beautiful but we want to come back in August hopefully because right now it is pruning season and the vines are pretty barren.
But the overall view in the valley is still amazing.
Obligatory family pic:
Coop enjoying a waterfall at one of the wineries:
The last day we were there we went for a boat ride in the lake with the owners of the house Kevin is renting. We let Coop drive so we could relax.
He then posed for a special Team Online picture with me and Kevin.
All in all, it was a lovely trip. We are already planning a trip back in the fall for the Okanagan Wine Festival.
